Behçet’s disease. If you’ve never heard of it, it’s a disease that causes blood vessel inflammation.
If you have heard of it—or actually have Behçet’s—you’re probably well aware of the resulting skin rashes, eye inflammation, mouth sores, and genital sores.
Unfortunately, there’s no cure for Behçet’s, and the exact cause remains unknown, but folks are doing research to find ways to alleviate symptoms.
In fact, Celgene, a bio-pharmaceutical company, will be holding a clinical trial for RELIEFTM(REsearching OraL ApremIlast Safety and EFficacy in Behçet’s Disease).
The trial will study the effects of the drug Apremilast, in Behçet’s patients—particularly how it treats oral ulcers. The test should also help researchers learn more about how the body handles Apremilast in the system.
